Gauge: 4 sts = 1in on circular US 10.5 needle in St st

Pattern Stitch (over an even number of sts)

Row 2: With A, *sl 1 wiyb, p1; rep from *. Turn work and take up B strand.
Row 3: With B, *sl 1 wyib, p1; rep from *. Sl sts to other end of needle and take up strand A.
Row 4: With A, *k1, sl wyif; rep from *. Turn work and take up strand B.
Repeat rows 1 to 4 for pattern.

Helpful Notes Before You Start
1. At the ends of rows 2 and 4, when both strands are together at the same edge, always be sure to take up the B strand first. Color A always follows color B across rows, after stitches are slipped to the other end of the needle.
2. When changing colors, pick up the new strand from under the old one, so that the two will be twisted together at the edge and no holes will be left.
3. Before starting your scarf set aside yarn from both colors A and B for either fringe or tassels. You will need approx. 11 yds of both yarns.

Instructions
With US 10.5 circular needle, cast on 38 sts and work in pattern stitch for approx. 64in. After completing row 4, bind off in the usual way to close the top of the scarf.
